5 Indemnity agreement
In consideration for the Billy Barker Days Society and the City of Quesnel, BC agreeing to permit this entry to take part in the Billy Barker Days Parade: the above entry will hold safe and absolve the Billy Barker Days Society and the City of Quesnel, BC from all responsibility for personal injury or property damage arising from accidents incurred going to, during, and upon dispersal from the Billy Barker Days Parade.

i 2026 Parade Rules

Arrival & judging

  • Floats must arrive at the Parade Marshalling Area between 8:00 AM and 9:00 AM.
  • Judging starts promptly at 9:00 AM.
  • Please do not arrive before 7:45 AM to respect neighbourhood residents.

Line-up & check-in

  • Enter via Shepherd Avenue.
  • Line-up numbers will be handed out on-site at the corner of Murphy Street & Bowron Avenue.
  • A parade attendant will escort you to your assigned spot.

Vehicle requirements

  • Maximum height: 12 feet
  • Maximum width: 8 feet
  • Maximum length: 35 feet (single), 60 feet (articulated)
  • Drivers must remain with the vehicle while in the marshalling area.
  • All wheeled entries must have a valid permit.
  • Antique vehicles must display the year, make, and model.
  • Floats must be roadworthy and fully serviced (gas, oil, tires, brakes, etc.).
  • A dry chemical fire extinguisher (5 lbs minimum) is on every float.
  • Exhaust pipes near decorations must be wrapped in fire-retardant material.
  • The Fire Department may conduct inspections on parade morning.

Animal entries

  • You must provide your own clean-up unit (Pooper Scooper).

Strictly prohibited

No throwing, handing out, or distributing items before, during, or after the parade (includes candy, merchandise, etc.). Violation = immediate removal and potential ban from future parades.
  • No alcohol on floats, in vehicles, or with participants. Anyone under the influence will be barred from participating.
  • No firearms or fireworks without prior written approval.

Parade safety & flow

  • If you break down, ask traffic control to quickly push your entry aside.
  • If an entry can't move under its own power, exit at the nearest intersection.
  • The parade must keep moving — do not worry about being out of sequence.
  • Maintain safe spacing and pace at all times. Spacing will be strictly enforced — violations may result in removal.

Float design

  • All floats must be decorated and approved by the Parade Directors.

Final notes

  • Parade starts at 10:00 AM sharp!
  • Obey all Parade Marshals — their instructions are final.
  • Most importantly: HAVE FUN!
